O&P, optogenetics, and other cybrog related items

Like the other pages, I plan to update this page as I go.

optogenetics (and in lamemans' terms) is the newest field of all that is listed in the title above, even newer than the ability to make cyborgs! However I believe it will have more impact on making humans part machine than anything thus far. With the ability to have two way commutation with the human brain with out any large scale side effects(yet known).

It could be used for pretty much anything, and with Prosthetics it could even get to the point where there is no learning curve at all, letting us have better equipment then the bodies we were born with, although we still need the brain itself, we are no where near able to transfer human brains into a metal copy-cat. We do however have the ability to send brains waves over a network so recording it maybe be possible soon 1 2 3 4 5 6

There are many ways this could go, I am hoping that it becomes common place as soon as it can! (by the way, grinding.be has a lot of cool stuff, bookmark it). O&P (Orthotics and Prosthetics) is the field I am going to major in to start with. I have all my 100 classes done, I just need some of my basic classes(math English, etc) and the 200 classes, then I need to transfer to a four year school, the closest one being about five hours away...

update 02/12/10

Most modern prostheses use muscles already in the body, in another part of the body, heres something to replace them with: Carbon nanotubes and there are many other uses this could have, just think, that girl who had an inch of leg chopped away from her body, her leg would no longer be an inch shorter than the other.
